All new members are accepted on a six months probation.

Junior officials can only be appointed to junior games at an age group younger than their own.

Adult probationary officials can be appointed to any games in line with their experience.

Officials in this group are eligible to officiate as referees in open age and youth games including Summer Conference and as Touch Judges in the National Conference League.

In addition, the RFL will appoint these officials to professional games in line with their grading and fitness levels.
